What are Mini Implants?

Mini implants are small screws measuring 1.8 to 3mm that can be placed in one day for patients. They also act as a tooth root and can retain crowns and bridges. Placing a mini implant is a minimally invasive procedure. The patient’s existing denture is placed on the implants or a new denture is fabricated.  Mini implants do not need as much bone structure as regular implants. Mini implants are also cheaper than regular implants.

How is the Mini Implant procedure performed?

The dentist drills a hole in the bone of the patient's jaw. The mini implant is screwed into the bone.  The denture is then fitted with metal fasteners that fasten the denture to the ball shape of the head of the mini implant. Mini implants are placed using local anaesthesia or intra-venous sedation. Patients should not feel any pain during the procedure.

Can I travel by air after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients can travel by air one day after mini implants are placed. They should ask the advice of their dentist before embarking on their journey.

What is the recovery time after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients recover from a mini implant procedure within a day.

What care is required after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients should use a soft brush and rinse their mouths gently after mini implants are inserted. They should not smoke or drink alcohol. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. Patients can apply ice packs to the swollen area to bring down the swelling. They should eat soft food or follow a liquid diet for at least a week. They should avoid eating hard food products. They should sleep with their head elevated until the swelling reduces.

What are the alternatives to the placement of Mini Implants?

Traditional dentures and partial dentures, also called fixed or removable bridges, are alternatives to mini implants.

Clinic Information: Constantinou Kalogera 47, larnaca, 6021
Rating from 2 Reviews The clinic is modern & well equipped, and is centrally located & easily accessibleBarbara, Cyprus, 17 Nov 16

My sudden toothache turned out to have a rather serious cause & I ended up needing root-canal treatment, which Dr. Minas performed over three visits. Though I at first was somewhat apprehensive, I believe Dr. Minas is well trained, highly skilled & experienced in this complicated procedure, and I am very pleased with the result - he saved my tooth. The fee compares well with what other clinics charge for the same treatment. Having recently moved to Larnaca & finding myself in sudden need of a dentist, I was recommended Dr. Minas by several friends. Even though I was not a previous patient of Dr. Minas, he received me just a day after I called for an appointment. The clinic is modern & well equipped, and is centrally located & easily accessible. The waiting room is light & spacious, with a TV & an aquarium to calm the nerves, as well as a selection of reading material. The staff is polite, friendly & welcoming, while maintaining a professional attitude.

Dr. Antoniou Antonis - Dental Center

Clinic Information: Inachou 3,, Lemesos, 3086
Rating from 2 Reviews Doctor and staff were very pleasant and helpful.Michel, Cyprus, 29 Nov 13

Full mouth rehabilitation Doctor and staff were very pleasant and helpful. They studied my case in full detail, consulted with various other doctors and a technician in the same clinic and reached a final proposal discussed with me in two free of charge consultations. The estimated cost and the time interval seemed very reasonable and the procedure went fine and on schedule. I’ve extracted all of my teeth, placed 8 xive implants on top of which they permanently placed a pair of hybrid dentures. Everything went fine, no pain, no swelling, and the final result was more than I’ve expected. Amazing! High quality dentistry made from friendly and “real” people that they don’t count for every penny. I am very-very happy! Thank you very much Dr. Antoniou. God bless you and your family. I am always smiling and nonstop recommending my excellent dental treatment. xxx

    Dental Implants
What are they? A dental implant is an appliance used to replace the roots of teeth. The implant is surgically attached to the jaw bone and an artificial tooth is attached to the top of the implant, creating a natural looking, undetectable replacement for the missing tooth. In the event that more than one tooth is missing, several implants may provide a base for a series of artificial teeth known as a fixed bridge. Implants can even be used to secure a full set of removable dentures for people who have no remaining natural teeth. This can greatly improve chewing ability and reduce the risk of choking. Advantages: 1. Dental implants with artificial teeth are the closest thing to regrowing your natural teeth. 2. They are strong, stable, durable and virtually undetectable. 3. By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability and head off jaw joint problems. 4. They are far superior to removable dentures. Disadvantages: 1. Dental implants do require surgery and time to heal. 2. They are initially more expensive than dentures or fixed bridges. Procedure: First appointmentThe dentist will examine your teeth and determine whether implants are the solution to your dental problems, x-rays are necessary to discover the state of the jawbone, particularly if the teeth have been lost for some time. This information can be used to determine whether implants would work for you and, if so, what particular type of implant that would be best for your situation. Second appointmentUnder local anaesthesia, the first step for many implant procedures is the exposure of the bone where the implant is to be made. This is followed by placement of the implant into the exposed jawbone. Implants that are placed in the bone are called endosteal implants and are made of titanium or a titanium alloy because this metal does not adversely interact with biological ti
